The visual artist Jorge Sellés will participate in the 11th Edition of the International Video Art Festival USVAN 2021 in New York

The visual artist from Alcoy Jorge Sellés will participate, exhibiting an original and unpublished audiovisual work, in the 11th Edition of the International Video Art Festival USVAN 2021 (Under the Subway Video Art Night) in New York.

The concept of Jorge's piece is based on the constructive criticism of the current state of the global economic system that is depleting natural resources and, consequently, slowly but progressively, annihilating planet Earth. While society continues to be anesthetized by superfluous material temptations and is directed through an imposed unawareness of market freedom with a spirit of minority, elitist, cruel and exclusive profit in the face of such tragic and devastating consequences, it continues to base its existence on the most absolute and deafening selfishness under a supine complicit indifference of stupidity and human emptiness. The video-creation selected for the occasion and carried out in its entirety (during the last confinement of last year 2020 due to Covid-19) with free multimedia applications for image, sound and video editing using a smartphone device and a tablet with Android operating systems is only a reflection of the reality that we have had to survive, conforming as a brief chronicle for a new awakening of hope and illusion.

The International Video Art Festival USVAN 2021 (Under the Subway Video Art Night) directed and curated by the multi and interdisciplinary artist, agitator and cultural manager from Elche Antonio Ortuño established in New York since 2005 who, with this 11th edition, celebrates eleven years, is dedicated exclusively to this artistic discipline that includes, since 2015, the exhibition and projection of compositions, mostly experimental and performative, at street level, in physical and virtual art spaces, galleries, centers and cultural entities of various and prominent cities around the world with a special focus and deference in the city of "The Big Apple” that never sleeps and, to this day, is considered the capital of creativity.
