Susana Alemany

Susana Alemany, Alcoi 1965.

Susana has dedicated her professional career to the textile industry, fashion, tailoring, industrial pattern making, and recycling of textiles.

She started in fine arts as a self-taught artist. In 2009, she enrolled in the School of Fine Arts of Alcoi, Alicante. During that time, she investigated the processes and handling of textiles while producing her artwork to obtain its peak adherence, durability, and malleability.

Coming from the textile sector, always immersed in textiles shapes, colors and volumes, it was natural for her to bring fabrics into her artwork. Embedded into the canvas, loose or wet, the way she chooses to use the fabrics, dresses the canvas, always expressing the vibrancy of colors, the elegance of volumes, and durability.

Although Susana first works were centered on textile research, her work also has graphic and pictorial artworks.

“Is my way of reclaiming re-invention and re-use of materials not intended for this artistic purpose”.

"I would like to say that we can't give up and look for other ways; I keep looking. Even without closing projects, I start new ones. I am passionate about life and everytihng it entails. We all have within strengths, eagerness to fight, desire to excel, overcome, and even survive"
