If I had to define myself as an artist, I would say that I am mainly a draughtsman. A draughtsman who paints, sculpts, and designs, but always a draughtsman above all other things.
As a lover of mysticism, I have found it precisely in drawing. For me, it is the mystique of the plastic arts, the soul that beats beneath every creation. From the most ancient manifestations of art to the strictly contemporary, every worthwhile artwork, is always deep inside. That is why my influences come from all periods of art history; I firmly believe that it is possible to make contemporary art rooted in tradition. That is what I, modestly, try to do in my work; every creation, be it pictorial or sculptural, has that background of what I call the pure mysticism of drawing.
This path has led me to refine the forms and begin a dance between figuration and abstraction that defines my work. I admire, for example, Sandro Botticelli as much as Francis Bacon. I think it can be appreciated in my art that flow between periods and styles that share authenticity and the search for the soul, from the most sublime to the most sordid of its manifestations. I believe that I walk between strokes and charismas simultaneously, and that is what I intend to transmit.
Finally, I would like to say that all my work is centered on the human figure as a symbol of the soul that I try to bring to light. I only hope to capture all of this on a piece of paper, a canvas, or a bronze sculpture. The techniques are different, yet the spirit is the same.
