Mónica Jover

Monica Jover holds a bachelor's degree from the Facultad de Bellas Artes de San Carlos UPV. She lives and works in Alcoi, Alicante since she began her studies.

Monica Jover has been awarded the scholarship of the Pensionados del Paular in Segovia, as well as from the L'Ecole Superieure des Arts Visuals in Brussels.

The main base of her artwork is painting. Nature is her reference, and the scenery is a pictorial resource she uses to portray a world that does not exist, a space between the limits of reality, where the inner world is present, and opposite realities coexist mutually.

Monica believes that experences and events we live remain nested in our memory and somehow shape our thoughts and our way of being. The places we have lived and where we come from, their aromas, images, and sensations, leave us with a peculiar and determined way of looking at the world. They create the first point of reference in life, and as of this point, we build our history.

Landscapes appeared in Monica's work from the very first moment; the relationship between human beings and nature has always captivated her.

The spiritual dimension hidden in nature, beyond its visual appearance, captures her time and again. It is a mystery she wants to interpret over and over that we do not see but perceive. Space and time are where silence dwells and happens, where our soul becomes present, and the human being is perceived as submerged.

In 2015, Monica introduced thread in her work and painting expanded into another dimension. The need to experiment with other materials becomes evident, and she experiments with sewn and embroidered fabrics on her paintings, wallpaper cut and glued onto the fabrics, sewn or not.

Deconstruction and reconstruction.

Monica considers her creative process to be active and constantly changing.
