Jorge Sellés at the 6th edition of the FIC - Front of Contemporary Initiatives, Villena 2024

The FIC, Front of Contemporary Initiatives, emerged in Villena in 2019 as a demand for contemporary languages in all artistic expressions. The FIC Pollock Cultural Association, the organizing group, has always sought to confront the public with innovative cultural initiatives. A confrontation that, as has been the case in all previous editions, has resulted in a decisive and enriching approach and encounter.

The FIC defends the role of those who create and mediate culture because they are capable of generating artistic uncertainties. Contemporary creators related to the population who develop their work outside of it are supported, also trying to create synergies with both national and international artists who have no relationship with the location.

A multidisciplinary commitment that brings together different artists and creatives around an idea: the defense (hence the name “Front”) of contemporary and avant-garde cultural languages, both in the conception of the propositions and in the way of show them to the viewer. Conjunction of a certain number of artistic manifestations created, purposely or not, that safeguard cultural artistic proposals that are on the margins, or at the extremes, of cultural marketing. Manifestations that maintain the essence of innovation and development as a premise, presenting projects in progress that take advantage of the FIC space as a place for experimentation and feedback, but always with a clear plan of action or installation.

For this next installment, whose recurring motto or slogan is THE SKIN, the organization and curating team, directed and coordinated by Pepe Ayelo, renowned cultural agitator and director of the KAKV (Casa de la Cultura de Villena) and composed of the renowned professionals Helena Ferrando, Ana Esteban and Andrés Leal, has once again counted on the artist Jorge Sellés to give shape and content to the curation of the multimedia audiovisual area with the participation of a selection of international digital creators and leaders in their artistic and creative discipline worldwide.
